10:00 - 10:30 Mentoring - An Overview (Definition(s), Connection between coaching and mentoring, objectives of mentoring, benefits and opportunities for mentoring, the varied uses for mentoring in the work place, best practice in mentoring)

10:30 - 11:00 Connections Between Learning and Mentoring (Why do people learn? learning as a process, the learning spiral, how do people better learn? methods of learning, supporting learning)

11:00 - 11:15 Coffee

11:15 - 12:00 Selecting Mentors (Choosing mentors, making the mentor selection, mentor characteristics, mentee characteristics, avoiding problems in mentoring, linking to the companies learning strategy)

12:00 - 13:00 The Mentoring Life Cycle (The three main stages of mentoring , mentee requirements in each stage, how mentors should recognise and handle the different stages, getting the best from the mentee's in each of the stages, recognising the gradual transition from dependence to autonomy, deciding "when to let go")

Lunch13:45 - 14:30 Mentoring Skills (Assessing a mentors skills, developing the listening skills, using intervention skills, developing skills in giving and receiving feedback, using focusing skills)

14:30 - 15:00 Mentoring as a Process (The meeting and documentation involved, getting the right environments, having the right resources available, using the right individual values and beliefs about learning)

15:00 - 15:15 Coffee

15:15 - 16:30 Ending and Reviewing Mentoring (Being clear when mentoring ends, appreciating that learning never ends, evaluating mentoring)

16:30 Summary & Action Plans Agreed
